Hi there! I’m Jody Barrett, founder and proud pet parent behind Bucho’s Barkery, and I’m so glad you’re here!
This journey began in late 2022, rooted in a deep love for animals and a commitment to giving them the healthiest, happiest lives possible. Like many pet parents, I’ve experienced the heartbreak of losing beloved companions, with several to cancer. Those losses really impacted me and sparked the desire to do better for the four-legged family members who depend on us.

I wanted to create something that felt like love in every bite. Treats that were real, wholesome, and made with intention. That idea became Bucho’s Barkery—a place where quality, care, and compassion come first.
In February 2025, I welcomed Jeff Murphy as my business partner. Jeff brings incredible energy, dedication, and a love for animals that perfectly mirrors my own. Together, we’re expanding our mission and making sure every treat we bake is packed with purpose.

At our core, we believe in treats without compromise. Every biscuit begins with simple, nourishing ingredients like oat or rye flour, which is especially helpful to our pups with gluten sensitivities. Each batch is carefully crafted on-site and made-to-order to preserve freshness and a dog-loving crunch factor, with a shelf life of up to a year. We even grind our own peanuts to simple and real preservative-free peanut butter—because shortcuts don’t belong in something made for those we love most. No fillers. No shortcuts. No nonsense.
This blog is where we’ll share more of our story—behind-the-scenes moments, new flavors in the works, lessons we’ve learned along the way, information content for keeping your pets healthy and happy, and plenty of tail-wagging surprises. Thank you for being part of our pack. We’re just getting started.
With Love & Peanut Butter,
The Bucho's Barkery Team
